Driver App Photos and Placement Notes on Contractor Jobs
Your drivers are the face of your company on every contractor job site. The super rarely meets your dispatcher or your bookkeeper. He meets the driver, at 6:45 in the morning, usually while something else is going wrong. What the driver knows before he turns in decides how that meeting goes.
Automated notices from Automated Texts and Emails for Contractor Accounts: Delivery, Swap and Pickup Notices tell the super the truck is coming. This guide is about what the driver has in hand when it arrives.
What the Driver Sees on Each Job
In the DumpsterBossPro driver app, every job shows the site address and haul-to address, the dumpster size, unit number and debris type, and the placement and access notes for the site. The driver knows what to bring, where to put it, how to get in and where the load goes.
For a contractor with several sites, that means a driver who has never been to Lot 9 arrives knowing what the regular driver knows: the gravel pad, the gate code, the super's name.
Drivers who arrive prepared also save the super's time. A driver who already knows where the can goes does not need to find the super, ask, wait and then reposition. On a site where the super is juggling twenty things, that matters.
Photos at Drop-Off
A photo at drop-off records exactly where and how the can was placed. On a new construction site that may seem unnecessary. On a remodel at an occupied home, it is essential. It shows the can on boards, clear of the garage door, exactly where the remodeler asked.
Make the drop-off photo a habit on every contractor job, not just the touchy ones. The day you need it is the day you did not expect to.
Make the photo show context, not just the can. The can with the garage door, the driveway edge and the house number in frame tells a much clearer story than a close-up of steel.
Photos at Pickup
At pickup, a photo shows what was in the can and the condition of the spot it sat on. If the load has prohibited items or is overloaded above the rails, the photo documents it before the can leaves the site. If the driveway was already cracked, the photo shows that too.
These photos are what turn a dispute into a short conversation. Show the super what his crew put in the can, and most of the time the argument ends there.
Keep the pickup photo even when nothing looks wrong. If a question about the load comes up a week later at the facility, you will want it, and it takes seconds in the driver app.
Drivers Updating the Notes
Job sites change constantly. A new driveway, a moved silt fence, a new gate code. Drivers are the first to see the change. Make it easy and expected for them to tell the office, so the site notes get updated the same day and the next driver is not caught out.
A driver's note that says pad moved to east side, super wants door facing the house is worth more than any amount of office-side guessing.
The office has a role too. When a driver reports a change, update the site notes the same day and let the next driver know. A note that sits in a text thread does not help anyone in the truck.
Safety and the Site
Construction sites have hazards: overhead wires, soft ground, open trenches, other trucks. Notes should flag what the driver needs to know. If a driver judges a placement unsafe, he should call before forcing it. A super would rather hear the can needs to go ten feet over than deal with a stuck truck.
Placement on public right-of-way and road weight limits vary by location. Check your local requirements and note on the site where the can is allowed to go.
Encourage drivers to take a quick photo of any hazard they report. A picture of a low wire or soft ground makes the case for moving a can far better than a description, and helps the super fix it.
Why It Makes Contractors Trust You
Contractors trust a hauler whose drivers get it right without being told twice. Notes and photos are how that happens consistently, even when a different driver handles the job. That consistency is what keeps the account when a cheaper hauler comes calling.
Next, the guide covers quotes for new contractors. For how the driver app fits into contractor accounts, see the DumpsterBossPro contractor dumpster rental software page.
